Last words

i have to be real honest, at first i wasn't sure if i could actually finish this course without having a meltdown! i was not as good with the computers as i would have liked, (yes, complete shocker right?)

yes, so our first major project was the multiple exposure and the circus collage, which i might add, were very fun projects!i think part of the reason that my multiple exposure turned out so well was because i used my brother as my model! working on my collage was also a lot of fun because i got to showcase both my personality and the things i like! I learned a lot about using photo shop and was very impressed on my ability to do such a project. when i first did my multiple exposure, i was beyond ecstatic, i felt like i could have worked for Apple. i learned that with photoshop you can manipulate and change an object the way you want it, which was just really cool.
after doing the first project, i felt a bit more confident with the course, that was until i attended Mrs. Powell seminar( i think my brain slowed down during that period, it seemed liked i wasn't able to put anything she said into my brain) eventually, after doing the tutorials i got the hang of the concept of vectorization, and i managed to do it! i was able to finish the pattern unit in a jiffy, but i have to admit, that 10-11 project was tough cookie!i just wasn't sure which celebrity i would vectorize, until my friend brought up beyonce! i had alot of trouble doing her nose though, but i eventually fixed it. when i felt like giving up, i managed to complete it during the last few days of June Rush with the help of my friends!
of all the projects we had throughout the year, my favorite would have to be our weccentrick video. i had such a fun time filming and putting the video together; instead of making a film about who were were, we made a film pretending to be something we were complete opposites of. i learned a lot about editing videos with the help of movie maker. i am really proud of the work we put into making that film because it was all worth it!

i cant believe that less than a year ago i wasn't able to tell the difference between photoshop and illustrator, now i can actually use them to create my very own projects!i had my ups and downs with this course, but i had a lot of fun through it all.

by the way, if our weccentrick video sounded so irresistible check it out at:

Who the man?

i loved how Obama's campaign used this ad to promote his candidacy for the presidential election. in this ad, Obama's effort are shown in trying to make a connection between the american people. the ad showed that Barack acknolegded the economic issues that their nation was facing. From the war in Afghanistan to the finacial crisis, Barack cared enough to include them in his advertisement.

i think that this video touched the many hearts of the american people as well as other people of the world because it showed that really cared. i also love how his campaign took a very popular beer commercial and used it as his own. in the campaign commercial, the actors are the same and they still moaned and yelled at each other but for different reasons( it was hilarious). the commercial is very close to what people are actually expereiencing nowadays. i mean, whenever you listen to the news, more often than once, we will here about a homicide or suicide that was caused by the failing financial economy. i loved how the commercial showed the man's stock going down and him commiting suicide (or trying to), but it was all too real! then there was the man outside, even though he sounded happy, the backround was just not working out, it showed a massive storm and hurricane outiside the house, probabaly based on the Hurricane Katrina tradgedy. in this ad, all of the crisis's that america was facing was touched and really made Obama an easier person to relate or connect with because he undertood what they were going through.

i really that that this was a great way of catching the attention of the american people. it was a wonderful way to promote Barack Obama and what he stood for, and that was change.

after all of the issues are adresses, the jobless man looks at the tv, and realizes that change is up. Barack's message in this specific commercial was to ensure that change was comming for the american nation and that he will lead them into that change.

ECCENTRICK !

This year was yet another awesome Mary ward art show! i totally loved it. however, i must admit that this was my first year taking part and actually taking a look at the art show:( (yess, last year i didn't even bother to look at the Echo art show, sorry!) But wow, wasn't Eccentrick just so cool! yes, there were those usual hectic final days before the opening of the art show, but it was all worth it. i loved how perfect everything turned out, from the jewellery and dresses in design to our projects and videos in the comm area. as to this being my first art show ever, i really cant compare it to last year's.

if i had to choose, my favorite area from this year's art show would probably have to be the Art area. i really liked this area compared to all of the other areas from the show because it showcased a variety of projects and art work that the students worked on all year long ( it may also have to do with the fact that some of my art work was portrayed in that area). other than that, i think i loved all the different projects that were showcased in one small area. everywhere you looked, there was always another project to look at and feel. there were so many really cool concepts and ideas from the different themes of each area, it just swept me off my feet.

i was so impressed with how well everything was done for the art show, the teachers were able to keep their cool after 34 students would try to consult with them at once (gottah give you a hand for your hard work in trying to pull of this year's art show) All i have to say is that i am so proud of all of the hard work that the art students put into making this year's show such an amzing experience!

this year's eccentrick art show was just full on SPECTACULAR(nothing can top it)! I'm hoping that next year's art show will just be as successful.

Gamers gone WILD!

I myself don't like playing video games, (that's cause i can't play for beans! no really, hand-eye co ordination just ain't my thing!) Anywhoo...then there are those kids who just won't let their video game controllers go, as if they were born it. i mean, remember the good old days? playing tag with kids from your neighborhood, maybe even street hockey, but nowadays, more and more kids waste their time on useless video games that just brainwashes them. i remember that during my childhood i was ALWAYS out and about, playing games and being involved with extra curricular activities. i believe that my parents would even approve of me covered in dirt and scratches than staying inside the house playing video games. Who wants to look back and see that during your whole childhood, all you ever did was play video games?

i think that the reason there has been such an increase in obesity between children is because of video games. instead of getting involved by playing and getting active, maybe even be doing school work, kids are locked up in their rooms playing Mario Brothers. by playing video games such as Halo, kids just become lazier by the video game.

i also think that video games has a lot to do with the enhancement of technology in our society. Notice that as technology becomes more complicated and advanced, the number of video games just seems to be increasing. however, after playing a new game for a shot period of time, kids lose interest and invest their money and time on another game. its a never ending mission!
people just cant help themselves, these games are really addicting.i remember when my little bro used to be so addicted to games, it was his life, but my parents really stepped up, they didn't want their son to be obsessed over a game and put a stop to it.

when problems and issues arise involving kids being too focused with playing their video games, i think parents should step up and do something about it. these games can really influence a child's future!
